Recreational & Microlight Certificates
If you intend to fly for fun only, then one option to consider is a recreational or microlight certificate. The medical requirements for these are less stringent. For a recreational certificate, you need to meet the Land Transport requirements for a Transport licence (eg Bus, Heavy Traffic). For a microlight certificate, you need to meet the Land Transport Class 2 (private car) licence.
You can get the examination done by your usual GP, but as flying is different from driving ie no opportunity to pull over if you are not feeling well, there are benefits to getting the examination done by an aviation medical professional.
